Falling.
Okay, so it wasn't very funny when it happened... when I was sitting on the floor with my skirts all akimbo around me, my wrist throbbing, wondering what on earth I had just done. Rachel was staring at me with enormous blue eyes in her suddenly pale face.
And then I realized my train had caught under the heel of my shoe and I had fallen, straight onto my rear end. All I could do was spin around, glaring at Rachel from underneath the brim of my hat, and throw the rest of my line at her from the floor.
"YOU ARE PRESUMPTUOUS!"
I recovered quickly. I carried on. I proved my worth as an actress.
Afterward, I went outside, sat on the cold concrete steps, and cried until my false eyelashes were in danger of falling off. I have never been so embarrassed onstage in my entire life.
